April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July, started taking guitar and piano lessons at seven years old. She was interested in creating songs was sparked. In April, when she was 12 years old She composed her debut single, Different. She spent lots of time at 14 writing songs and practicing the piano. Soon, April began going to NY and LA together with her father in order for them both compose songs. April also began to include other related topics for some of her peers who are dealing in the area of bullying by peers and teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart is a partner at the well-known cosmetics brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle blogger with a huge following of her own. Lockhart was born with no left hand and that is part of her story, but this isn't the whole truth. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on Instagram, but she does not make it the main focus of the post. It's a reminder. We all have multiple aspects of identities and we're more than our physical selves. Lockhart in a video message from Nashville home, states that I don't wish for this to define my character. I am far more than just my physical self. It doesn't impact my day-to-day life I do everything normally and I've found the best way for me to adapt things. It's also part of me, so I believe it's important to talk about. Lockhart is a huge inspiration to her fellow women in the area of self-acceptance. Yet, she confesses to going through periods when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance, and the clothes which displayed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she likes. And she posts pictures on social media. For her, self-love is a long trip. However, I believe that's the case for everyone, whatever their insecurity is. I think it's important to surround yourself with people who are able to discern and understand your heart.
